ENTERPRISE EDUCATION
Woodchurch High School, a Church of England academy, has a fully planned and integrated careers education and work related learning programme.
Enterprise Education is a programme run by school that seeks to create and develop the skills and knowledge necessary for adult working life. In addition, it seeks to enable pupils to have an understanding of entrepreneurship and this encourages them to be more enterprising. Broadly speaking, the programme falls into three categories:
Enterprise Capability: The capability to handle uncertainty and respond positively to change, implementing new ideas and new ways of doing things.
Financial Literacy: The capability to be an informed consumer of financial services and be able to manage one’s own finances.
Economic and Business Understanding: The capability to become enquiring within the business context and develop skills of decision making. The above elements are supported through our Enterprising Skills for Work programme, which focuses upon twelve key skills:
- Communication
- Co-operation
- Creativity
- Decision Making
- Initiative
- Leadership
- Planning
- Presentation
- Problem Solving
- Responsibility
- Teamwork
- Time Management
In addition, school also seeks to develop the ‘Enterprising C’s’
- Capital Gain
- Confidence
- Communication
- Contribution
- Co-operation
- Creativity
Pupils complete much cross curricular work in this area, in addition to work carried out in PSHCEE lessons and Form Time. Outside providers, such as the Transformational Trust (Barclays LifeSkills) and MPloy Solutions, also run events for school, which support the above programme.
