NEET FURTHER SUPPORT

Woodchurch High School, a Church of England academy, has a fully planned and integrated careers education and work related learning programme.

Some pupils are identified as potentially NEET at the start of Year 11. These pupils participate in an intensive support programme run by the Youth Federation. This programme explores barriers to employment, as well as developing employability skills. Additionally, mentoring is put in place to support these pupils further. At the beginning of the course, students are invited to an interview with staff at the Youth Federation. This allows them to tailor the course to best meet their needs leading to an engaging course for the students which drives improvement in their academic progress as well as understanding of post 16 options. Students will receive bespoke advice and support with CV writing, cyber safety as well as building confidence in an application process through CV writing support and mock interviews. If after leaving school, past pupils require support with further applications, or find they are NEET, they can, by prior arrangement, fully access the Careers Education and Guidance programme at school. This includes be able to have further Careers Guidance interviews.
