SCHOOLS WITH ATYPICAL AGE OF ADMISSIONS
Woodchurch High School, a Church of England academy, has a fully planned and integrated careers education and work related learning programme.
Careers Education and Work Related Learning programme
Parents and pupils are also reminded that there are a small number of providers / schools who have an atypical age of admission – these are sometimes called ’14-19 schools’. Usually, the Local Authority (Wirral) write to parents towards the end of Year 9 giving details of these schools and their admission arrangements. Currently, there are no 14-19 schools on the Wirral, although there are some within the wider Liverpool City Region:
University Technical Colleges
UTCs are set up by universities and businesses and specialise in one or two technical subjects. At GCSE they offer a similar curriculum to a typical secondary school, including basics of English and Maths as well as their specialist subject.
Locally, there is one UTC, this is – Liverpool Life Sciences UTC
Studio Schools
These are similar to UTCs in that they have employer involvement in the curriculum and focus on developing the skills needed for employment, involving personal coaching and work experience, alongside a similar curriculum to a typical secondary school.
Locally, there are two Studio Schools, these are:
- The Studio School
- Christleton International Studio
