DAME KELLY HOLMES SOCIAL ACTION PROJECT

Thursday 3 July 2025

Throughout this year a group of our year 10 pupils have been working hard with their athlete mentor (Neil Danns). They were selected to take part in the ‘On Track To Achieve Programme’ run by the Dame Kelly Holmes Trust.

Following several competitive proposals, staff selected the project which would see our students deliver an activity morning for primary pupils focusing on building their confidence, teamwork and communications skills.

On Thursday 3rd July they worked together to coordinate and deliver a range of activities to the pupils from Fender Primary School. The day was set off on a high as Roman delivered a very professional welcome speech. They ran sessions including; 5 aside, rounders and a scavenger hunt. Pupils were provided with prizes and refreshments throughout the morning.

All our pupils delivered sessions with confidence and worked hard to ensure they provided an engaging and positive session to the visiting primary pupils.

We would like to extend our thanks to Neil Danns from the Dame Kelly Holmes Trust who brings a positive attitude and boundless energy to every session, supporting our pupils to be their best selves. We would also like to thank ‘Football for Change’ who fund this programme and provide this fantastic opportunity to our students.

The group of students have shown fantastic commitment to the project, they have brought their own personal experiences and skill sets to support each other and have developed both individually and as a team throughout the programme. They should be extremely proud of their achievements and the positive impact they have had on the young people this year.
