Top set year 9’s have been tackling the first Stage of the Edge Hill University Mathematics Challenge, an annual competition organised by the Faculty of Education that provides students the opportunity to take part in engaging mathematical activities while developing teamwork and communication skills. The problems presented in each stage of the competition are very different from the Mathematical work associated within the curriculum. The top 5 have been selected and sent off for entry to Stage 1!

University of Liverpool Year 9 STEM Day

A day of hands-on practical activities in the Universities superb Central Teaching Labs.

Activities  on the day included:

• Robotics session in one of their many ICT facilities.
• Hands on problem solving maths session requiring communication and teamwork.
• Maths Team Relay Quiz involving reasoning and analysing.
• Careers and University session.
