GEOGRAPHY TOWNFIELD PROJECT
Friday 1 July 2022
The Geography Team, Miss Hughes (Eco-Schools Lead) and the enthusiastic pupil Eco-Committee delivered a series of engaging fieldwork activities for Townfield Primary School. The Eco-Committee played a vital role in supporting the sessions, working with small groups of around 15 pupils. The activities made full use of the school building, surrounding grounds, and the fantastic school farm.
On Monday 30th June, four members of WHS staff led a fieldwork session for 62 Year 2 pupils, focusing on key KS1 geographical skills. Pupils explored compass directions, map symbols, locational language, and route planning, while also developing observational skills through simple data collection and processing. They thoroughly enjoyed identifying physical and human features around the school site and farm.
The session received outstanding feedback from both Townfield staff and pupils, who praised the engaging delivery, hands-on learning, and the clear passion of all involved. The day was a brilliant example of collaborative learning and meaningful curriculum enrichment.
