During this festive season, faced with the task of creating this year’s school Christmas card; we reflected on December’s Christian Value of ‘Thankfulness.’ This year more than ever, it has been humbling to celebrate the gifts that we are given each day and has highlighted how thankful as a community we are for the opportunities our pupils receive to ‘let their light shine.’ For the cover, we chose the work of our Year 8 3D designer-makers to celebrate their accomplishments in visually exploring the awe and wonder of our solar system and combining this with their investigations into the Scandinavian simplicity of the KNEIP Norway design studio. The simplicity and elegance of their objects closely echoed the sentiments of spiritual light, the omnipresence of God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. The composition of the three experimental surface finishes, which present the surfaces of the planets and the stars, also reminds us of the three wise men and God’s ultimate gift of Jesus for which we are truly thankful. We are very grateful to India Amis 8XN, Aaran Graham-Comber 8YN and Ella Standen 8YN, for sharing their good works and helping us to create this thoughtful design.
