RT. REV. LIBBY LANE
Sunday 9th March 2015
The Installation of the Rt. Rev. Libby Lane as Bishop of Stockport
Two of our pupils, Scott and Emily, were given the huge honour and privilege of welcoming the Right Revered Libby Lane, as Bishop of Stockport at her Installation at Chester Cathedral on Sunday 9th March 2015. This was an historic moment, as Bishop Libby is the first female bishop in the history of the Church of England.
At the service were over 2,000 invited guests, including the Lord Lieutenants of Cheshire and Gtr. Manchester, the High Sheriffs of Cheshire and Gtr. Manchester, various civic leaders, including the Mayors of Stockport, Trafford and Cheshire East, as well as the senior Diocesan and Cathedral staff team. The Lord Bishop of Chester led the service of welcome, assisted by the Bishop of Birkenhead.
During the service, along with the Lord Lieutenants, the Mayor of Stockport, and Emily and Scott were invited, on behalf of the 120+ Church of England primary and secondary schools from across the Diocese, to welcome Bishop Libby to her new ministry within the Church.
Emily and Scott read a short welcoming speech. They were an immense credit to the school and as they left the Cathedral, they were congratulated on their immaculate presentation and word-perfect speech by over 30 people!
Well done Emily and Scott, and thank you both for being such outstanding ambassadors of our school.
Below, Emily and Scott were accompanied by Rev Bannon (Assistant Headteacher) and Ms Phillips (Headteacher)
Dear Rebekah
Just a short note to pass on thanks to Emily and Scott for their wonderful and professional contribution to the service a week last Sunday. They both did a splendid job and they and the school should be proud of their presentation.
With best wishes

A message from the Rev Canon Jeremy Dussek, Canon Precentor at Chester Cathedral
Dear Rebekah
I felt I must write to congratulate the two Pupils who represented the school at the installation of the Bishop. They spoke clearly and well with great dignity and poise and were an asset to the school. I could see that Bishop Libby was impressed as she had a special word with them. I’m sure you are justly proud of them.
Yours Sincerely
Jennifer E Schwanz
